Preschool, Say What?

Dear Owen,
We love you Owie!! Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you. We knew you would do awesome at school today and you did just that. You are going big places little man, just don't get there too fast. You will always be our sweet little boy and you know what, I secretly hope you really do become a doctor superhero when you grow up but always know I will love you no matter what. Happy first day of preschool.
Love,
Mommy xoxo

Owen went to his first day of preschool today, how exciting is that? He has been so excited for school he has been talking about it for months! Everyday this summer he asked me when he was going to school, if he could take a bus there, how he was going to play with all the kids there and how all the mommy's and daddy's leave while the kids stay -- it really was cute.

He was so excited in fact, he was still up in his bed at 10:30 last night! I had to go into his room and tell him he needed his energy for school tomorrow so he needed to close his eyes. He sweetly said "ok" and off to dreamland he finally went.

This morning he happily ate breakfast, got dressed, grabbed his special shoebox we painted and decorated yesterday that holds an extra set of clothes for "just-in-case" accidents, put his backpack packed with his milk and fruit snacks (Just to give you a little insight of his demeanor, he had to pack enough fruit snacks to share with his whole class. They provide a snack and I told him that but it didn't matter and I didn't want to discourage him so we packed a big bag for everyone he really does have a warm, caring heart.) on and was even a good sport about taking a couple of pictures. We loaded everyone in the car -- yup even Eric came much to Owen's delight -- and off we went.

I love the way he arranged the stickers
And now our big boy all ready for school!
Took this one with my big girl camera
 Ready to go
The night before I asked him a couple of questions and wanted to document them as he started preschool

When we got to his school he ran to the door and told me he couldn't wait to find his backpack hanger aka his cubby. He happily hung up his backpack, met his teacher, took a little tour of his new room and was ready to say goodbye. He gave me the biggest hug and kiss and his Daddy too and off he went without looking back. When did he get so big? And can time slow down just a little bit?

Walking into school
He actually asked me why I was making him stop to take a picture, he wanted to go into school

Even Addie was happy for her big brother

When I picked him up he seemed happy and his teacher said he did great. So far he has told me that he got to dress-up like a policeman while the little girls dressed up as princesses and hopes that he can dress up like a princess next time with special princess slippers. He also told me he played on a playground and made a new friend named Thatcher. We will see what next week brings as he starts his new normal -- school Tuesday-Friday from 9-12 but we are so proud of our little man.
