Crawling

On Thursday Owen learned how to crawl! He has been working on it for a few months now but finally decided he had enough and wanted to move on his own. When he took his first few crawls he groaned and moaned the whole time ... I think he was pretty nervous that he was actually moving. I did get a few videos of his attempts at crawling over the past 2 months and one of him officially crawling ... it's not too interesting but definitely one that I will treasure.

Owen's stages of crawling:
Stage 1: We call this the superman flap
He would lay on his belly and just flap his arms and legs in the air
Stage 2: Getting stronger!
Stage 3: K Mom, now how do I move?
Stage 4: First time crawling

Hurricane Irene

So Mom, do you think it is humid enough?

Irene may have died before she got to us ... but look at those curls that she brought Owen!

We Love to Walk

No... Owen is not walking on his own yet, but with the help of his walker he really gets around! He loves being in his walker and is usually confined to our kitchen (which he causes lots of trouble in) but when we were at the engagement party I decided to let him "run" around in the driveway. He had so much fun and I just had to share some of his skills with you!

Engagement Party

At the beginning of August we traveled down to RI for an engagement party for Danny and Holly! It was held at Holly's parents house and had a Hawian theme.  Both the mom's did such a wonderful job putting everything together -- especially the little details. When you first walked there was a fun fact board with a little blurb of information on everyone that was attending the party. We were all asked to bring a picture of ourselves and these pictures where put with the little blurbs so you could put a face to a name -- it was very creative. Everyone that attended the party was so nice and had such a great time. We cannot wait until next September when Danny and Holly tie the knot and Holly officially becomes a member of our family -- we love her!

Beware Picture Overload! Since Owen had a spectacular nap ... it allowed me to get lots of pictures while I was baby free!

Renouncing the Devil

This past Saturday we celebrated Owen's baptism and it was such a wonderful day! We had just immediate family there to celebrate Owen's special day which was just perfect and cannot thank everyone enough that traveled out for this special day. I tried everything in my power to make sure he was well rested leading up to this day to make sure he was the happy little boy that I get to hang out with everyday and of course on the day of his baptism he decided that napping is for the birds. But despite his lack of naps he was still our little all-star! He did great during the ceremony and didn't cry once. In fact when the minister took him to poor water on his head he was more interested in getting his glasses than caring that he was in someone else's arms. And that really set the tone for the rest of the day. He very willingly went to anyone that wanted to hold him and didn't really fuss which was just wonderful since he doesn't get to see his grammie's, papa's, aunties and uncles all too often! It was really a very special day and one that I know we will remember forever. Thank you to everyone that was able to come! We love you all.

8 Month's Old!

Wow, 8 months old where has the time gone! I can't believe our little Owen is already 8 months old today. Every month seems to get more and more fun as his little personality comes out he reaches new milestones. This month also marked the first time he started to show some mobility and although he still isn't crawling yet he sure does know how to get around a room especially when he wants something! We sure do love our little boy and can't wait to see what he has in store for us next month.

Owen's Stats:

We won't know his height and weight until his appointment next month
Eyes: It really depends on the light and what he is wearing. They are still blue on the outer edges and hazel in the middle ... very pretty if you ask me
Diapers: Size 3
Cloths: 9 months in most everything and wears a size 3 shoe

What Owen has been up to:

Just the other day he learned how to move into a sitting position from his tummy.

He can drink out of a sippy cup.

Get's in so much trouble in his walker! He has learned how to open and close the kitchen cabinets, pull off the dishrags that hang on the oven, pull on anything and everything that is within his reach.

He can walk holding onto our hands.

He napped for the first time in his pack-in-play at Holly and Danny's engagement party and did awesome, lets hope he does that again on our next adventure!

Met two newborn babies for the first time this month who I am sure he is going to be good friends with as they all grow up --- baby Ashton and baby Ellery.

Has gone out to dinner/lunch with us a couple of times and we have figured out that straws and spoons are better then ANY toy to keep him entertained while being contained at the table.

If he knew how to stand by himself, that is all he would do, but for now he will stand up and play with some of his standing toys with us being his bumper/safety net.

Is trying really hard to crawl. He can go up on all fours, rock and even move his arms and legs in the crawling motion but stops after one step. He can army crawl a little and scoot backwards like a champ.

Is starting to pull himself up on things although he only really practices this new skill in his tub ... not the safest place to say the least.

Still LOVES anything to do with water.

He usually eats 4 bottles a day (20-24 oz of milk total) and eats three meals a day -- breakfast cereal and fruit; lunch is usually just a fruit or veggie; dinner - cereal and veggies. He is still on all baby food stage 2. I have tried giving him a few solid food items (bananas, watermelon, cheerios, puffs) however as soon as any of these items touch his lips he starts gaging and makes himself throw-up ...

He naps twice a day and usually goes down between 9-10am and again between 1-2pm. He sleeps for a total of 3-4 hours on a good day.

He is still waking up once or twice a night to eat and has yet to sleep through the night .... maybe someday.
