18 Months Old

Wow, when did Owen become a year and a half old? It seems like only yesterday he was just a squishy little newborn sleeping all day, refusing to be put down and being a very picky eater.... well the picky eating hasn't changed much but I must say I really am enjoying my little toddler even when he has full blown tantrumes. I know I have sucked at blogging lately, a lot has been going on the past few months  and my writing spirit seems to have left the building, but I have a lot of posts in my head and events that we have attended that need to be documented, so if I have any readers still out there, thanks for sticking by me and I promise to be better at keeping you all updated on our lives :). Now on to Owen.

Stats: (His doctors appointment is in July, so I will have to update this post with his stats, I just don't want to forget)

Weight:
Height:
Head Circumfrance:
Diapers: Size 4 - nighttime we have to do 2 diapers, size 4 first wrapped in a size 5
Cloths: 18 months and 24 months in one piece jumpers

Milestones:

One of his favorite things to do right now is bring me anything he finds. He will bring me his toys, trash, flowers, his sippy cup --- really anything. He is such a little squirrel hoarding all of his precious treasures

He starts to move anytime he hears music

He loves to clap whenever he accomplishes anything and likes to pat on his legs to music

His favorite toys are his stacking cups and any type of balls. He could play with those all day everyday

He is my little fishy and loves loves loves water and with all of this hot weather he has loved being able to play at the local splash parks, baby pools and water tables

He is not a big fan of the hot weather. He sweats as soon as it gets over 70 degrees and has a really tough time sleeping unless the room has air conditioning

He is a disney boy and loves watching Mickey, Little Einsteins, Jake and the Neverland Pirates

Although he still isn't really talking, he understands what I say and will fallow directions when he is focused and in the mood

He says hel-lo, i do (which I think might be thank you), all done, ut-oh ... he can wave buy-buy, points to objects he wants and will whine until we figure out what he wants

He can climb the stairs holding onto the railing with one hand

He tries to climb on anything and everything ... he is fearless and I can't look away for one minute

He will hand me the remote when he wants to watch Mickey

And one of Lexi my first baby

Memorial Day Picnic

On Memorial Day we met up with the playgroup that we go to every week for a little bbq! It was so much fun to meet all of the husbands and have the husbands watch all of the babies play together. It is great because our little group is made up of 6 different families with babies pretty much all of the same age. They were all November and December 2010 babies so they are all pretty much doing the same thing. We have been getting together with this group since they were all about 8 months old so it has been really fun to watch them all grow up together and interact with each other.

Everyone got along great and we had a wonderful time getting out of the house and doing something a little different!

Memorial Day Weekend

Over Memorial Day weekend Eric's parents made a special visit to see us! When they came on Saturday we headed over to the aquarium to see all of the fishes and seals. Owen loved making the trip again ... even though it was almost 95 degrees out!

Saturday night we went out in faneuil hall for dinner. It was so nice out we ate outside and Owen had a great time watching all of the people and action going on. It was packed with people.

On Sunday I had to work during the day so the boys headed up to Endicott to play at the beach. I heard that they had a wonderful time and Owen had a blast throwing rocks into the water and was so confused when they would get sucked away by the waves. It was the first time he got to play in the ocean and it was no surprise to find out that he loved it! I guess that means we need to go a lot this summer ;).

When I got home from work, Eric got to try out his new grill for the first time and we had a little bbq. It was so nice to stay-in and catch up and let Owen have some time with his Grams and Papa.

We are so lucky that they made the trip and it was sad when they had to leave but we know we will see them again over the summer!

Off to the Farm

Back in May we also did a little outing with our friends Kristen and Ashton to another local farm and had lots of fun. Owen was a tad bit grumpy, but it was fun to see all of the different animals and we were with great company so in my book it was a good day!

Cousins

Growing up, I had a few "cousins" that may not have been blood related, but sure did seem like they were . One of these cousins was Jamie. She was like my little sister that I never had. She was over our house all of the time and we played and fought and loved each other like we were sisters. We grew up together, I watched her marry her high school sweetheart and now she has paved the path of motherhood overcoming all obstacles thrown in her way, bringing up two wonderful daughters and becoming someone I look up to and want to be like. Although we don't get to see each other often, she will always be like one of my younger sisters (Alyssa being the other) and now that I have Owen, I can only hope that Kaileigh, Brianna and Owen become as close as Jamie, Danny, Ricky and I are and even though they may not be blood related I hope they will always stay cousins!

Well a couple of weeks ago, we were so lucky and got a visit from Jamie and her sweet precious little girls and one of Jamie's really close friends Brenna and her sweet baby Brook. We played inside for a while and then went to the park where both Owen and Kaileigh had a blast. After that we headed to the cheesecake factory for lunch. I am not sure what we were thinking bringing 2 toddlers and 2 babies out to eat, but surprisingly enough all of them were little angles. There was not one meltdown or outburst... I think it was a little miracle if you ask me.

We were sad when they had to go and now but we hope to plan lots of visits to New Jersey!
