Christmas Morning Part 1

Owen is starting to be at a fun age where he is starting to understand a little what presents are and the joy of opening them. Because of that, we decided to have our little Christmas before we headed off to the Grammie's house for all of the fun that Christmas has to offer!

Two Year Pictures

Right before we started our holiday travel, I got Owen's 2 year pictures taken. I wasn't sure how he was going to do because sitting still and listening to directions while looking at a camera and smiling is a huge task to ask a toddler. Luckily, our photographer was awesome and he captured some great shots of our little man. So I will warn you now, it is picture overload! Enjoy :)

A Letter to Owen

Dear Owen,

Today you turn 2! You are my independent little boy who knows what he wants. You are very strong willed but at the same time have a huge and loving little heart. You are kind and compassionate and very determined but overall a mama's boy and there is nothing wrong with that!

You LOVE being outside. It could be unbearably hot, rainy, snowy, freezing or just sunny, it doesn't stop you, you could stay outside for hours! You still love our daily walks to the park, but over the past year one of your new favorite places to go is the fire station. We have spent many hours sitting across the street watching the firetrucks come and go.

You have have also found the love of teasing your Lexi with her ball or cookies which makes you give off the most infectious laugh. The love you have for her is undeniable. You even came up with a nick-name for her and now call her Ha-Ha. It melts my heart to see how well you two get along and how you have really become best friends.

You are also a very busy little man. You have one speed which is running and when you run you often hum or talk so I can always find you. You have given me a few heart attacks though because when we are out in a store you think it is hilarious to hide on mommy --- so if I turn away for even a second, my heart instantly drops when you are no longer in my line of vision. I will be happy when this phase stops.

You are a great independent player and will sing the clean-up song when it is time to pick-up. You also love to help mommy or daddy with anything! If you could be a big kid you would, but lets not fast forward to much okay, I treasure the tender hugs I get when I see your smiling face every morning or the open mouth kisses that cover my face.

Overall you will always be my sweet little boy that I love with all of my heart. You can be very shy and quiet and are still working on talking, but that's okay because I can already tell you have a good heart and are turning into a little boy I am very proud is mine. You have a great personality and your laugh could light up the sky because it is always filled with so much joy. Thank you for teaching us to look at things differently and teaching us to appreciate the little things. You are the best thing that has ever happened to mommy and daddy.

I love you to the moon and back. Happy 2nd Birthday Owen!

Love,
Mommy

Owen's 2nd Birthday Party

Before the craziness of the holidays kicks into high gear, we decided to celebrate Owen's 2nd birthday a few weeks early. We held it at our apartment and invited some of Owen's little friends and their families as well as friends and family.

Since Owen loves trucks we decided on a construction theme! Thanks to pinterest, I got some cool ideas for decorations and the cake which were all fun to put together. I was a little nervous that it would be cramped in our little apartment, but everything pulled together and I think everyone had a good time.     Owen started off cranky but once we had some pizza and opened all of his generous gifts he was one happy and loved little boy!
