Happy 4th Birthday Owen

On December 22nd, my little man turned 4 years old! He was so excited for his birthday this year and couldn't wait to have cupcakes, blow out the candles and open presents. For about the last half of the year whenever we were out in a store he would ask me for a toy and I would respond with "you can add it to your list" and lets just say he had a LONG list of favorite things he was requesting for his birthday and christmas. But surprisingly enough he was only expecting one gift on his birthday so when he woke up and found a small mound of gifts waiting for him in his chair he was so excited. When he woke up, we made sure to cover his floor with balloons, he had to walk through streamers hanging from his door and I had the rest of the house decorated for his party later that night so it was officially Owen's very special day. The look on his face made staying up until 1 in the morning to make sure everything was set-up just right.

After examining all of the decorations he ran right over to his presents and started to rip them open. He would say "I LOVE this" or "THIS IS JUST WHAT I WANTED, THANK YOU MOMMY AND DADDY" he was so funny and very animated opening his presents it was so cute. He has also become a pro at opening gifts with ripping off the paper, looking it over and moving onto the next gift and once he finished he went right into playing with all of his new toys.

And actually before I forget to post about it, 4 days before his real birthday Owen got to celebrate his special day at preschool! He was very excited about this special day. We went to the grocery store and he picked out special cupcakes to bring in for snack. When we walked in in the morning, he had a birthday sign hanging in his cubby, a birthday sticker waiting for him to wear and a special birthday pencil from his teacher. He was also the special snack helper and their was a little paper birthday cake on the calendar they use during their morning meeting. All of the kids knew it was his special day which made it very exciting! At snack time once everyone had their cupcake, his teacher actually put a candle in his and everyone sung happy birthday and he got to make his birthday wish and do you want to know what my sweet boy wished for? His exacted words right before he blew out his candle "I wish we can all be friends" -- my heart melted. It was such a special day and a great way to kick-off his birthday celebrations.

Waiting as everyone is singing to him
 Making a wish
 Happy Birthday little man
