Springtime is finally starting to roll around and with that comes warm weather and lots of outside adventures. This week Alyssa and Louis came to visit and we decided to take the boys to one of my favorite local farms to see the animals. What I like most about Codman farm is the fact that it is a real working farm. The animals are well taken care of, it has all of the natural smells of a farm and they ask you to make a donation each time you visit by dropping money in a dropbox in the first barn you walk by. There is not any tour guides, just people working on the farm so you are free to go at your own pace, visit all of the animals and just explore. They also sell fresh milk and eggs which I think is cool.
This was our first visit since last year and before we pulled in the parking lot both boys were telling me what all of the animals that we were going to see say. There were lots of oinks, moos, clucks, baaas, quacks and even a gobble gobble coming from my back seat which made me smile.
The first stop we made was to see a massive bunny. I mean she must have weighed at least 20 pounds. She was very calm though and the boys thought she was pretty neat.
Next stop was the sheep ... well much to my surprise Owen wouldn't even step foot into the barn once he saw the sheep. For whatever reason he was terrified of them. Which was a shame because they were so calm that they would let you feed them straw which Ashton thought was pretty cool as he sat on my lap while I fed them some yummy pieces of hay. But as soon as the sheep said their first "Baaa" in our presence it was all over, both boys ran out of the barn and they were done with that. I guess we will skip the sheep next time.
A lamb got loose! She was super sweet though
We stopped to check out Owen's favorite -- the trackers. That seemed to calm his nerves a little bit.
(Wish he wasn't blinking)
And to my surprise there were little piglets in a pen near the trackers. They were so cute running all around, causing all sorts of trouble. They have a LOT of energy.
The chickens clucked away and the boys at least got brave enough to go say hi.
The big pigs were one of their favorite stops of the day. Maybe because they didn't move to fast and basically laid in the mud -- but hey at least they made the boys smile.
Watching the pigs
They didn't really do much
The last animal stop was to see the cows. For whatever reason this was the boys favorite stop of the day. They mooed right along with the cows and stayed at the fence and watched the cows for a good 10 minutes and in toddler time, that is an eternity.

Overall it was a fun little outing and I am so glad outdoor weather is here!!!!
