4th of July

Even though the 4th of July was on a Wednesday this year, we still had a wonderful day. When we woke up we had no plans. We started the day slow celebrating America's birthday with some homemade chocolate pancakes and then headed over to the park to soak up the beautiful hot summer day.

In the afternoon we had a wonderful surprise -- our close friends and their 3 adorable kids came to play! Owen of course was stubborn and decided on a late nap, so Sarah and I headed over to one of the splash parks with her two little cuties while the husbands and Jake stayed in the AC and watched the monitor.

When we got home, Owen was up and ready to play. All of the kids got along great and moved together like a little pack of puppies. As soon as one strayed away the other two were always found a few steps behind. Of course with 4 kids (3 being under the age of 2) I didn't get many pictures of all but believe me they had a great time.

We had pizza for dinner then decided to pack everyone up and head over to see the Newton fireworks. Owen had never seen them so we were excited to see what he would do. We found a good place for the blanket, put out some toys and waited for the show to start. Right as the kids started to get a little restless fireworks lit up the sky and captivated their attention - score. Owen surprisingly wasn't scared at all and enjoyed them for the first 5 minutes but got bored ... so mommy put on Mickey for him and put him in his stroller while the rest of us watched a great show! Talon really made it a special night for us because he just loved the fireworks. After each one shot off in the sky he would turn to all of us and say in the cutest voice ever "Did You See That!!" OMG so cute! The joys of being 2 and a half :).

Not really sure what to make of them...
 Hmm... taking it in?
Looks like the start of a smile
They were so pretty
 Had enough ... watching Mickey!

It was such a great fourth of july and we hope you had a wonderful day too!
