On Thursday, we celebrated Thanksgiving at my parents house with my Grammie, Auntie Cindy, Uncle Dennis, Alyssa, Dan and of course my parents... we were missing Dave and Ricky but we did think of them a lot! It was a great day filled with a lot of laughs and a lot of cooks in the kitchen. At one point we had four adults peering into the hot oven to check on the turkey as the dogs searched the floor looking for any dropped food ... Alyssa was in charge of mixing the veggies ...My Uncle Dennis was singing away while mashing the potatoes in the sink and mixing until they were filled with a lot of love because that's when you knew they were ready :) ... My Dad was carving the juicy turkey and the turkey grease was dripping on the floor causing people to ice skate to the table to bring over the prepared food ... Auntie Cindy and I were in charge of the rolls and making sure they didn't get burnt this year ... My mom was in charge of everything else including handing out all of the tasks that needed to be done with such ease... it was really amazing to watch and my grandmother was keeping up with all of the dishes to keep the clutter to a minimum while everyone shared the kitchen space. It was really quite the sight to see and if you stepped back to look in from the outside, that's what I think Thanksgiving is all about. Spending time with family, all together to create a meal that is just magical! It was truly a remarkable moment.
After stuffing ourselves to the brim, finishing the dishes, putting out dessert and ichatting with Ricky in Colorado, we ended the night with a very funny game of apples to apples. Overall it was a great Thanksgiving!
On Friday, Eric, Lexi and I started round 2 of the holiday and headed to Rochester NY to visit Eric's family. We ended up getting in around 4:30, which was perfect timing and gave us the opportunity to unwind from the long drive and catch up with Eric's parents and Lizzie :). For dinner we traveled into downtown Rochester and went to a great restaurant called The Anchor Bar, which has world renown wings and a great laid back atmosphere to catch-up and relax! It was a wonderful treat to go out and when we got home we were greeted by Molly, Mike, Maeve and Liam! We spent the rest of the night just catching up with everyone and it was wonderful.
On Saturday we did a little shopping and got ready for the nights festivities with some of Eric's extended family and some yummy Thanksgiving leftovers :). Eric's Uncle Bob, Uncle John, Aunt Rebekah and cousin Jay all came over to celebrate the holiday again. It was so wonderful to see everyone and to be able to catch-up and although Geoff and Giselle were not there we were able to talk to Giselle on the phone and got very excited to see them for Christmas Eve!
It was such a wonderful holiday and we can't wait to do it all again in a few weeks for Christmas (can you believe it is already December 1st?)! :)
P.S. I just found the only two pictures that I took over the holiday ... I promise to be better during Christmas :)
