Big Boy

Back in July Owen hit two major milestones -- first he moved from his crib to a big boy bed that he LOVES and second he became potty trained!

Finding the right bed however was an adventure. We knew that we wanted to get him some sort of twin size bed but that's all we knew. So one Saturday we ventured out and went on the hunt for the perfect bed for Owen. Owen of course had to test out the beds and like the princess and the pea just couldn't find the right one.
Shopping for beds!
 Too big...
 Too small

So after regrouping after eating some dinner we thought we would start by getting a mattress because no matter what we needed one of those and we had a toddler that was set on sleeping in a big boy bed since that's what we had been shopping for all day...

Although he looks happy as a clam, he woke up that morning at 4 am crying and ended up back in his crib. It was back to the drawing board and we needed to find a big boy bed fast. Luckily we came across a bunk bed that was on sale at BJs and knew that it would work just fine for our little Owen. So we loaded it into the car and Eric and I took on the task of putting the million pieces together. The next day we took down the crib, moved the beds into Owen's room and Owen has been sleeping soundly in his new big boy bed ever since.

The second big milestone that Owen accomplished in July was officially becoming potty trained! The way we did it was basically going on house arrest for a whole entire week. Yes you heard right --- Owen and I did not leave the house for a week, that's 7 whole days of not even going to the park. It was a longgggg week that Owen spent naked and it was full of ups and downs but the end result proved to all be worth it as Owen has only really had two accidents since and is just a rockstar in my eyes. He of course still wears a diaper at naptime and bedtime but we aren't too worried with that. Now all we have left is to get rid of binkis ...

Talk about becoming a big boy over night!!! Way to go Owen!!!
