Owen-isms

Although it took Owen 2 years to start to really talk, he has found his groove and likes to talk to us all day long. Although it is still a little tough to understand him, he tries so hard to communicate what he wants, which has taught us how to decode some of his own words that he has come up with. Here are a  few of what I like to call Owen-isms:

"Haha" is his name for Lexi. What is funny is that he can say Lexi but still refers to her as Haha

"Shiga" his word for ice cream -- yup still have no idea how he came up with that one

"O-eee" - what he calls himself even when I say "Owen" he repeats back "O-eee"

"She-she" - although he doesn't say it anymore when Owen first started to call out for his best friend Ashton that's what he would call him

He also is big on dropping the first letter of many words so blankie, binkie and mickey all come out as "inkie." Milk is "ilk"

"It tickles" - this one makes me smile. He says "it tickles" whenever he thinks something is funny or finds something amusing. So for example if Lexi is running around like crazy and he starts to laugh he says "it tickles." So cute!

With his new found voice he has also become our little parrot and he repeats EVERYTHING! So be careful what you say because he will say it back.

He likes to make sure that we understand him so he will say something i.e. "Going to Target" and unless I repeat it back to confirm that I have heard him he will say it continuously over and over until I do. If I don't guess correctly at what he is saying he will so "Noooooooo" in a very cute and funny way like "Mom you are crazy that is not what I am trying to say"

And now for some recent pictures of Owen:
