We just got back from Lexi's doctors appointment with the orthopedic surgeon and she was diagnosed with a partial CCL tear which is equal to an ACL tear in humans which Eric has done playing volleyball. The only way to get her better is a painful surgery scheduled for December 27th. After surgery she is not allowed to run, jump or play for 12 weeks and gradual longer walks can be worked in after the couple first couple of weeks. So total recovery time looks like 3 months ... and if it was anything like the surgery that Eric had, which it sounds like it is ... it is going to be a long and painful recovery. On top of all of that she is going to have to adjust to having a little brother which I know she is not thrilled about already and now she won't feel very good :/. And to add more stress to everything is the fact that it is an extremely expensive surgery and really makes me wish we invested in pet insurance. Let's just say we learned our lesson.
The most important thing for us though is to get Lexi better and hopefully this surgery will do the trick. It will be a long road to recovery but if it means we will be able to get our little ball of fur back, it will all be worth it. If you could all think good thoughts for our little Lexi, especially on December 27th we would all really appreciate it.
Well, I am going to go back and tend to my very sad puddle of fur who can't even lift her head off the couch at the moment ... poor Lexi bear :(
I am sure she will make the best of it all! She is a happy, healthy, fun loving doggie :)
