12 Months Old

Wow, 12 months old, 1 year! It's true what they say, time really does fly by. Our little Adelyn is 1 years old and she sure is a happy, sassy little love and is the perfect fit into our family. She has been the complete opposite to her big brother in every way since she was born! I think she just wants to keep us on our toes and to give us a little challenge, because who wants to trudge through the paved path when they can make their own? She is our adventurous risk taker who is fiercly observant and very curious. She adorers her big brother and is such the little Daddy's girl. She is a morning person and usually always makes up so happy. She also knows what she wants and has a feisty little attitude if she doesn't get her way. She is our Addie or "Sunshine" and we love her so much.

Milestones:

She had her first real big boo-boo just 3 days before her first birthday. We were going down the slide together when her foot got stuck between the slide and my leg and was diagnosed with a "toddler fracture." After X-rays and a trip to the Children's Hospital, she come home in a full leg purple cast

Has started to give out low-fives and high-fives and always has a smile when you ask her

One of her favorite things to do is go on our bed and get tickled. She lays on the bed waiting to be tickled only to let out the cutest set of giggles and tries to crawl away. She really likes when you capture her and flip her on her back and tickle her some more after she tries to get away. It's a really fun game to play

When she is really happy/excited/ or knows she is about to do something she isn't suppose to (i.e. steal a plate of food off the table, dig in Lexi's food bowl to try to steal her food, grab something of Owen's she knows she isn't suppose to have) she give the cutest scrunched face full teeth smile -- it might be one of my favorite things

Currently has 3 teeth - one top, two bottoms with the second top tooth trying to work its way out

She is our early riser and currently tries to wake up between 4:45 and 5:30 ... we try our hardest to get her to sleep until 6/6:30 but since she shares a room with Owen it makes things very tricky. She is always so happy when she wakes up which is the only *bright* spot when its still dark out. She is also still waking up at night to eat. On a good night she will wake up once usually between 2 and 3

Loves to go outside. Once she wakes up and plays for a bit she always walks over, grabs her shoes and throws them at you to put them on her. Taking a trip outside is the cure to any meltdown she might be having... its pretty amazing

Understands when we tell her to do things. One of my favorite things I ask her is if she wants to take a nap and if she is tired she will walk and find her blanky and binkie and start to head towards her room

She loves to give open mouth kisses. She has been doing it for a while now, but whenever she is happy or appreciative she leans right in and gives you a kiss -- she has a very loving little heart

She doesn't like to be left behind. If one of us takes Owen somewhere she usually cries at the door or grabbing her shoes so she can go too
