Always In Our Hearts

Last weekend before Eric left for Texas, Eric took us into the city to see the Boston Memorial Tribute for the Boston Marathon Victims. Despite the sunny day, warm weather and the streets filled with bustling people enjoying the city of Boston, it was still eerie to be where the bombings occurred. The one bright spot in this whole tragedy is to see the amazing outpouring of love and support from people all over the globe. The moment you stepped in the area where all of the posters, running shoes, hats, flowers, teddy bears, crosses, flags and signs were laid out you could feel the love and unity which is a pretty remarkable feeling.

After visiting the memorial, we took a little mental breather and let Owen run around in the grassy area for a little bit and enjoy the signs that spring was here!

The little break had us ready to walk across the street to where the two bombings actually occurred. And to be totally honest, for me it was hard to be in those two spots where so much tragedy, heart break, and death occurred. The images from the long hours of tv coverage flashed through my head and made my heart race just a little bit. Now to the everyday person, all you would see is a few boarded up windows ... but to people in the area that lived through this will always see something different... and that's hard.

As we walked in between the two bombing locations on boylston street, something pretty cool happened. Just as we were about to cross the street a HUGE motorcycle rally came barreling in. There had to be hundreds of riders and at first we had no idea what they were doing, but it became immediately apparent they were there to show their support for the Boston victims because they packed in the street at the finish line and stopped. They then started hooting their horns, revving their engines, basically making as much noise as they can as if trying to say "We have your back Boston, they chose the wrong city to mess with." They were there for about a good 5 minutes and it was really a cool experience to be apart of.
